What is a Ponder Plan?

These are a new Career Action Plan workbook that utilises the latest in Career Development Theory and best-practice. With one for each Year level from 6 to 12, they help your students to think about:

• Who they are
• What their strengths and interests are
• What opportunities are around them
• Who their allies are and who is in their network
• How they fit into the world of work
• What subjects they’d like to study (Year 10)
• What options they are considering
• And what steps they’ll need to take to get there

All in a beautiful, easy-to-follow plan that students can make their own.

How can I use a Ponder Plan?

These fabulous step-by-step workbooks can be used in a number of different settings, including:

• Careers Lessons (you can directly pair these with the associated year-level Ponder Program lessons if you wish)
• Group Career Conversations in PDHPE/PSHE/Tutor Time/Pastoral Care/Mentoring Time
• Preparation for Subject Selection or post-school options (such as university/college/training)
• One-to-one Counselling Sessions
• They can even be allocated as Homework tasks if you wish

As an editable, printable PDF, your students can use and save them on their devices, or you can print them out and students can write in them. No matter your school setting, you’ll be able to easily adapt them for use.

There is also an Overview & Teaching Guide, to make it super simple for you to run planning sessions with your students or to allocate them to other educators to deliver.

Fully compatible with the Ponder Program

The ultimate career action plan isn’t a stand-alone thing, it’s a process. Which is why the Ponder Plans are directly linked to year-level Ponder Program lessons and the four Modules of Ponder.

They are Understanding Self (Module 1), Self in Context (Module 2), Exploration (Module 3), and Connection (Module 4). So if you’re a Ponder Member school, you can integrate career planning throughout the year, connecting lessons directly with student futures. And if you are not a Ponder Member school, you can still deliver the value of the Career Development Framework to your students through these workbooks.

Which year levels are they designed for?

Unlike Career Action Plans or SET Plans that are often used for just a few year levels (generally in Year 9 or 10), Ponder Plans are designed to foster self-development and career planning throughout all year levels.

For instance, in Year 6, the focus is on the student understanding the basics and getting to know their strengths and interests. Whereas in Year 9, it’s about exploring potential pathways and what they might do in the future. By the time students are in Year 12, the workbooks focus on practical things like preparation for their transition beyond school.

With seven (7) year level workbooks available, you’ll have individual plans that suit every stage your students are at.
