Make career exploration easy with the new Pathways Cards

Help your students to explore career possibilities with this print-at-school Pathways Card pack.

Getting students to talk about what they’d like to do when they leave school can be a challenge, and often it’s because they simply don’t know what the options are. With the new Pathways Card resource from Study Work Grow, you can help them to find what they might be interested in using a tried-and-true method: hand cards.

These practitioner-designed career exploration cards give you a structure, instructions, and lots of visual and engaging possibilities for them to consider. And best of all, you can print as many sets as you like at school for no extra cost.

What is in the Pathways Cards download?

This print-ready PDF resource gives you:

  • Full instructions
    – Easy to follow (so you can learn how to use them quickly)
    – Also includes adjustments for neurodiverse, low-confidence, and disabled/ill students
  • 8 Interest Areas
    – These are the career categories, covering Creativity, Enterprise, Environment, Mechanical Systems, Society, Technology, Travel and Places, and Wellbeing
    – With these interest areas as a starting point, it’s easy to get students to choose the things they like
  • 120 Pathways
    – We know there is over 1,000 different jobs that people do these days, but that’s too daunting for students. So we’ve selected a range of 120 popular career paths to explore.
    – On the back of each of these cards is an even wider range of career possibilities to consider.

They link to the Career Clusters too

Each Pathways Card (120) has a list of job ideas, sorted into six Career Clusters (Maker, Guardian, Informer, Coordinator, Linker, or Innovator roles). While the clusters are self-explanatory, it works even better if you also use these following the free Career Clusters Psychometric tool. That way students can instantly identify with roles that might match their cluster results.

Where can you use these cards?

The great thing about a print-at-school resource like this is you can print multiple sets, but you can also use them in one-to-one counseling sessions, small group sessions, or even in career education classes. They’re very flexible (we’d love to see how you use yours).

How will I get the cards?

The Pathways Cards come in a high-resolution print file. You’ll get a download link via email soon after your purchase.

How to use your Guides

Our Digital Student Guides are downloadable in PDF format. A great way to provide lots of information in one easy to understand document.

Downloading the Guides:
  • Once you select and purchase your chosen Guide, they will automatically download as PDF files.
  • Save the downloaded files to a convenient location on your device for easy access.
Sharing Online:
  • Via Email: Attach the PDF files to an email and send them directly to students, parents, or colleagues who might find them useful.
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Intranet: Upload the PDFs to your school’s LMS or intranet, making them readily accessible for the entire school community.
  • Embed in Digital Guides: Incorporate the booklets into other digital career guides or resources to provide a comprehensive exploration tool.
Printing and Sharing Physical Copies:
  • Utilise your school’s print centre to produce physical copies.
  • Distribute the printed booklets during career counselling sessions, at career fairs, parent-teacher meetings, or in classrooms as tangible ‘frisbees’ to spark student interest in various career paths.
  • Share hard copies to your Careers Office or the school’s Library for students to pick up and browse or take home to read.
  • Provide hard copies for students who might struggle to access digital copies of the Guide outside of school hours.
Getting the Most Value:
  • Encourage students to review the Guides and return with any questions or for further discussion. This approach fosters a deeper exploration of their goals and could help you to better help them find and pursue relevant opportunities.
  • Use the Guides as a tool to initiate group discussions or workshops focused on career exploration, skills development, or life mapping.
  • Incorporate the Guides into classroom activities or projects that align with the career information presented, providing practical context and inspiration.

This item is a digital download, which means there’s no shipping. This is great, because it’s better for your budget and the environment.

You’ll be able to download these resources as soon as you’ve checked out, so make sure your device will allow you to save and download. We’ll also send everything direct to your via email just in case.
