ReachOut Lesson: The power of reflection and gratitude

Reflection and gratitude can be powerful tools for maintaining good mental health and wellbeing, especially when managing the ups and downs that life throws at us.

The past few years have been challenging for many young people. So, to kick off 2023 on a positive note, ReachOut Schools has developed a new classroom lesson that supports students to use reflection and gratitude to approach the challenges they have faced in recent times.

The power of reflection and gratitude encourages students to write strength-based reflection letters about their experiences to themselves or to someone they are grateful for, and has been designed to build their sense of empowerment, self-efficacy, resilience and hope for the future.

To ensure teachers and students feel capable, informed and ready to get involved, it includes engaging warm-up and discussion activities, as well as guided letter templates that are both printable and digitally editable.
