From Your Career – 10 Principles to Improve Career Decision Making

I’ve been talking quite a bit lately about how we can support young people to make positive, informed, and confident career decisions, and I stumbled across this article from Your CareerTen principles to help students improve their career decision making.

The 10 principles are designed to boost cognitive processes in all students so they can make better decisions. Here are their 10 principles:

  1. Create a level playing field
  2. Continually challenge students
  3. Provide professional learning for Career Advisors and educators
  4. Encourage physical exercise
  5. Use technology to train the brain
  6. Use broad approaches and lots of practice
  7. Support wellbeing
  8. Break down steps into chunks
  9. Have appropriate expectations
  10. Avoid categorisation
