Work Experience

General Information
Work experience is the short term placement of secondary school students, generally from Year 10, with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located.
It provides students with the valuable opportunity to:
• develop employability skills
• explore possible career options
• understand employer expectations, and
• increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.

Some courses in the Senior School have compulsory work placement as part of the course. The Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses have a requirement that you must do at least one week of work placement in the industry related to that course (per year). These placements you will need to organise for yourself. You will be learning specific skills while you are there. See the Careers Adviser, Work Experience Coordinator or VET Teachers for more information.
