Do we have a common language for skills? I haven’t found one yet, at least, not one we all agree on. The developers of the new National Skills Taxonomy want to build a ‘common language’ for skills, and in this week’s Pondering Careers I’ve explored what this could look like and posed some questions for things we should probably consider if we decide that building any kind of common language is actually a good idea (and I’m not convinced it is). Would love to hear what others think – both about the plurality of skill taxonomies and the need to find a common language.
